Our Ministry of Prayer and Care

“Let us therefore approach the throne of grace with boldness, so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help in time of need” (Heb. 4:16, NRSV).

The goal of the Prayer and Care Ministry is to:

  • Honor and love our Lord God through encouraging, equipping, and inviting people to pray and care.
  • Exhibit the joy and power that accompanies a relationship with God in prayer.
  • Respond in practical, loving, and caring ways to those in need, allowing Jesus to work through us.

Recent reflections from the Care and Prayer Team:

Jacob recently challenged us to consider how we can grow in our relationship with Jesus. The bulletin every week lists daily Bible readings, which are an easy way to hear a word from God.  They are short enough to fit into a busy day.  They are meaty enough to provoke thought.  Another way to grow is to involve yourself in the life of prayer.  Would you like to pray more regularly?  Would you like to be connected and accountable to other believers?  Would you like to know that some one is praying for you—individually--every day?  Consider becoming a prayer partner.

Prayer & Care Team invites you to join with one to three others in the congregation to form a prayer cell and to pray daily for one another.  If you are in a Bible study group or fellowship group, are there persons with whom you might covenant to pray?  If you work or live near one another, could you meet for lunch, share, and pray?  The hope is that prayer cells would meet weekly and be in contact through the week by telephone or e-mail.  If you want to participate but are not sure how to get started, mark one of the forms that were recently in mailboxes or write your name down and place it in the box on the table in the fellowship center.  Prayer cells could be open to persons outside the congregation or to persons not yet committed to Jesus.

Prayer can transform and renew your life.  Prayer could set our congregation on fire.  The invitation to begin will be brought to you several times over the next few weeks.  Consider it, then JUST DO IT.
